ABOUT THE PRODUCER:
Wbeimar Lasso is an agro-industrial engineer and coffee grower from Pitalito Huila, who has been in love with coffee since he was a child. Wbeimar won the National Cup Tasters championship in 2009. Cofinet’s team met Wbeimar in 2015 and fell in love with his passion and commitment to coffee. In 2018, we were able to start purchasing his amazing coffees. Since then, we have established a strong
relationship that has allowed us to offer his coffee to our clients all over the world. After years of hard work, Wbeimar and his wife Juliana were able to purchase their first farm, Las Terrazas. Wbeimar and his wife focused their efforts on learning about specialty coffee to use this knowledge to improve the quality of the coffees they produce on their farm. After mastering various specialty coffee practices that improved the yield, quality, and flavor of the coffees they produced, Wbeimar and Juliana then started sharing this knowledge with their local community to help support their farming neighbours. They now work collaboratively with local farmers to produce high-quality coffees.
COFFEE INFORMATION:
This coffee was grown by Wbeimar Lasso at the farm El Mirador. This coffee is harvested following strict ripeness criteria, floated and hand-sorted to remove any defects. Cherries were then exposed to 30 hours of underwater fermentation before being pulped. The parchment was then gently washed and then dried in temperature controlled conditions until ideal moisture content was achieved. This microlot is 100% Gesha. This varietal was first discovered in Abyssinia, Ethiopia in 1931. Gesha was planted in Panama for the first time in 1963 and in Colombia in 2005.
